RIP Cornell MacNeil

Dear Cornell MacNeil, one of the greats of the sort this blog was born to feature, left this mortal coil today.  Here is his Wikipedia bio-blurb.  And following are clips from two of the roles he was most identified with:

Alas. Though MacNeil's retirement preceded my opera-going life, I got to know quite a few baritone roles through his recordings; I loved his Pere Germont and Rance. (As an aside, I think Blogger officiously "spell-checked" your post title.)
